Les Machines De L’île, Nantes
Les Machine de L’île was created by François Delaroziēre. I’m not sure how to explain the park, but I can say it is super cool and you can spend hours there. It’s very Jules Verne who was born in Nantes, France. Several years ago while planning a trip to France I saw a picture of the mechanical elephant and knew we had to go to Nantes.
Les Machines De L’île opened in July 2007. It is part park and part workshop. Besides the elephant there is a flying heron and a squid. There is also an amazing carousel with unbelievable creatures.
Around the park there are elevated observation decks to get a close up view of the enormous machines. The elephant takes strolls around and you can get on him and take a ride. We did not take a ride but we did get wet from his spray! His trunk and tail move all around just like a real elephant. I have never seen anything like it in My Imaginary French Village or anywhere else.
Besides having such a great time at the park, we really enjoyed visiting the city of Nantes. I’ll share more about Nantes later.
