Le Petite Française baguettes
Standard size 5 or 6 cm across and is usually 65 cm long, but can be up to a meter in length. This is the size of a French baguette. Crispy on the outside soft inside.
Who doesn’t like a French baguette? Whenever I’m in France I swear I could live on the bread! Anytime of day anywhere in France you can find people with their baguette for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Early in the morning or at the end of the day lines form at the local boulangeries. A boulangerie is a bakery that specializes in bread.
When not in France but in My Imaginary French Village I often wish I had a good French baguette. I’m lucky to have found a good one in my grocers freezer section. The bread is Le Petite Française baguettes. They are made by S.A. Boulangerie de Newhauser in the Alsace Lorraine region of France. If you go to the website lepetitefrancais.com you will find the history and how the baguette is made. The site also mentions where you can find them and to ask you grocer to order them if they do not currently sell them.
I make them a lot for breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks. They are always a hit!
Á bientôt,
Jane
The photo depicts a mouthwatering baguette in a French boulangerie. In France one must buy their baguettes throughout the day for them to be fresh, no preservatives to make them last. If any would be leftover, then pain perdu (French Toast in the States) makes a great way to start the day.
