Darwin Bordeaux is on the site of a former military barracks on Quay des Queyrues on the right bank of Bordeaux. It features an indoor skatepark, an urban farm, free expression spaces for graffiti artists, an organic grocery, a restaurant, and a wellness center.
The restaurant Le Magasin General is the largest organic restaurant in France. There is even a tent inside for children to hang out. I could have easily hung out a while in the tent!
The skatepark Le Hanger is in a former army warehouse and constructed from reused material. It offers features such as wooden bowl, big ramp, street area, and a skate house.
The urban farm not only has vegetables and herbs but also live chickens.
The graffiti art is so cool and so much of it!
You could spend hours at Darwin the longer you stay the more you keep discovering. I love the whole concept of the place. Unfortunately when we visited the skate park was not open. We were able to look in and if you are a boarder I’m sure you would have a blast! I can’t wait to go back to Darwin when the skatepark is open.

Amazing!! Darwin is a great way to bring people together and rehabilitate a space. I can imagine how all combine as a community. Would be a great idea to build in the States.
