Quiche Lorraine by Julia Child plus Swiss cheese and scallions.
Having a leftover pie crust in the fridge and plenty of eggs I decided to make Quiche Lorrraine for dinner. I followed Julia Child’s recipe and added Swiss cheese and scallions.
Traditional quiche lorraine is made with just eggs, cream or milk, and bacon. No cheese!
Quiche actually originated in Germany the medieval kingdom of Lothringen which the French later renamed to Lorraine. The word quiche is from the German word ‘kuchen’ meaning cake.
Quiche is so good with so many different ingredients. It’s a great dish to make using leftovers. Different kind of cheeses too. Put a little salad with it and a nice wine and you’re set!
A bientôt,
Jane
“Quiche Lorraine, I’ve heard of that” is a famous quote from one of my favorite movies “To Catch a Thief.”
ReplyDeleteThis looks amazing how simple French cooking creates an amazing meal. Leftovers served elegantly with a basic French salad and wine makes a
meal.
